Her early work, which is critical but also occasionally pornographic, drew an enormous amount of criticism from feminists. From the 1990s onwards, she developed a hyperrealist style of painting based on her own photographic templates in which the worlds of glamour and fashion are quoted in a feverishly obtrusive manner. She staged her first large-scale museum exhibition in San Francisco in 2005, and since then has been involved in many institutional exhibitions, including the Deichtorhallen Hamburg (2011), Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt (2012), Louisiana Museum, Denmark (2012), Kunsthaus Zurich (2012), and she was included in the 2006 Whitney Biennal. Minter's new work is currently on view at Regen Projects, Los Angeles. This summer, her work will be included in the exhibition "Riotous Baroque" at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. Minter lives and works in New York, New York. PREV 3 OF 49 NEXT |
